This season may look a little different, but Varsity Spirit is committed to providing your programs options to host your season, safely. Youth & Rec virtual events allows your program to stay in the spotlight from home, while still getting the chance to earn bids to our End-Of-Season Championships! These events are a new offering this season, and we still plan to offer live events when and where we can safely host them.

Virtual Event Information

How Does it Work?

An official keyword will be emailed prior to upload date to present in your video.

Film your routine in your own facility using your phone or camera. Read up on filming guidelines.  *Format does not require all teams be present in their gyms/studios at the same time or on the same day to help maintain social distancing and sanitation standards. No special equipment required.

Upload routine video to Varsity TV using an easy uploader.

Varsity certified judges will score submitted routine videos.

Watch routine videos on-demand on Varsity TV on the designated dates above followed by a FREE to watch virtual awards ceremony. *One coach per team will receive a one month FREE Varsity TV subscription.

Score sheets and division breakdowns will be emailed to coaches, just like in-person competition.

Awards will be mailed following the event.

Routine Filming Guidelines

Teams must submit a video recording of their routine taken in their practice facility, using the keyword indicated during the filming period. Videos must be one take – edited footage will not be accepted. All 4 corners of the floor should be visible when possible. The program must own rights to this video and consent to it being posted on Varsity TV for use in the Virtual Competition. For a list of filming guidelines and specifics. How to Watch

Varsity TV will host this event and one one-month subscription will be given to a coach of each registered team to watch. All Varsity TV subscribers will be able to watch the event in its entirety. The awards will be FREE to all viewers on Varsity TV. If you have questions about your Varsity TV account, click here.

All routines will be judged with sound and available for Varsity TV subscriber viewing with sound for 48 hours once the event goes live. After 48 hours, the routines will be available without sound for Varsity TV subscribers. After 5 days, routines will be available free of charge without sound for the duration of the competition season.

End-of-Season Bids

Virtual Challenge I, II & III: Youth & Rec Virtual Challenge Bid Declaration

Tune into Varsity TV on February 21st for a Quest Bid Reveal for the Partial Paid Bids earned at the Virtual Challenges.
Teams must compete in two Virtual Challenge events in order to qualify for a Partial Paid Bid.

Virtual Challenge IV:
Tune into Varsity TV on February 28, 2021 for a Quest Bid Reveal for the Partial Paid Bid Upgrades earned at the Fourth Virtual Competition Event.
In order to be eligible, teams must compete in two Virtual Challenge events and already have an At-Large bid.

NCA/NDA March Virtual Championship:
Ten At-Large bids to The Quest Recreational Championship will be awarded to 10 of the highest scoring teams. Two Partial Paid bids to The Quest Recreational Championship will be awarded to the highest scoring teams across different levels. Two Gold Bids to the U.S. Finals will be awarded.
In order to be eligible for a Partial Paid bid, the team must have already received an At-Large bid from a previous Varsity Spirit event this season.

The U.S. Finals Bids:
Gold Bids to The U.S. Finals will be announced on The U.S. Finals Instagram each Tuesday following the event.

The Quest Recreational Championship Bids:
At-Large Bids to The Quest will be awarded in the awards video following the event.

Crossover Policy

A Recreation Cheer athlete will not be allowed to compete on more than 2 cheer teams within their organization per competition. A participant may only represent one organization at a competition.

*Exception for 2020-2021 – No more than 25% of your team may crossover from an All Star program at a particular event. An athlete should not compete more than 3 times on any given event day.
