WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2026.

In addition to the standalone National High School Cheerleading Championship, National Dance Team Championship, and National School Band Championship, we will be introducing exciting new opportunities for all three spirit groups to compete together to represent their school.

Teams will still compete independently in the following divisions:

  • Cheer: Performance Divisions and standalone Cheer Game Day Divisions
  • Dance: Performance Divisions and standalone Dance Game Day Divisions
  • Band: Pep Band Division 

The sample block schedules below are estimated for illustration purposes only. The event schedule and length of each 2026 Championship will be announced following the 2025 Championships.

WHAT'S AT NSSC?

NSSC Qualification

NHSCC Qualification:

  • 2025-2026 Information – 75% of the qualifying team must participate in the Varsity Spirit/NFHS Squad Credentialing Program in order to be eligible to compete. In addition, the team will need to receive a bid at a 2025 or 2026 qualifying UCA regional event for the 2026 NHSCC.

NDTC Qualification: 

  • All teams attending the 2026 UDA High School National Dance Team Championship must receive 1) Varsity Spirit/NFHS Squad Credentialing AND 2) UDA Nationals bid to be eligible to attend.1) CAMP QUALIFICATION (Varsity Spirit/NFHS Squad Credentialing & Nationals Bid) Teams will continue to complete NFHS Squad Credentialing and have a chance to earn a bid to UDA National Dance Team Championship at UDA Camp. At UDA Camp we will go through the credentialing process, as well as have three ways to receive your bid.
    • All Home Routine trophy winners at a UDA Camp with at least 5 or more members *+
    • All Superior trophy winners at UDA Camp with 5 or more members
    • Teams attending any Varsity Branded camp with 5 or more members can also qualify but must receive their bid at a UDA Regional Competition. *

    *75% of the team (with a minimum of 5 participants) needs to be credentialed to be eligible to earn a bid to compete at a Varsity Spirit National Championship.  Teams must attend an overnight camp, day camp, or home camp that is at least 2 days in length to be eligible.
    +Teams will continue to qualify for a Superior trophy at overnight and day camps by athletes being evaluated in all routine evaluations. To qualify for a Superior trophy at home camps each athlete must be evaluated on a minimum of 2 camp routines.

    NOTE: Only 2+ day UDA Camps offer both Varsity Spirit/NFHS Squad Credentialing and award bids to qualify for UDA Nationals. 

    2) SQUAD CREDENTIALING PROGRAM (Varsity Spirit/NFHS Squad Credentialing ONLY)

    3) REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS (Nationals Bid ONLY)

    Teams may qualify for the 2026 UDA National Dance Team Championship by receiving a placement trophy at a UDA Regional before December 31st, 2025.

    Teams that wish to receive a bid for NDTC at a UDA regional must also complete the Varsity Spirit/NFHS Credentialing program.

NSBC Qualification: 

  • Teams can qualify for the Spirit Program Divisions at camp. Bands will not need to qualify this first year.

NSSC Registration Preparation

Preparing for Nationals Registration happens for most coaches at the end of October:

    • Bus transportation to the event from the Championship hotel
    • Optional Open Practice at venues including transportation to/from

    • Extra Magic Hours on Friday night at a select theme park
    • Celebration Party Sunday night at a select theme park
    • Championship Event Experience including premium venues, staff, awards and more!

Reminder that Airport Transfers are booked on your own​. MEARS can be booked on their own with special link for discounted pricing.

  • Commuter Package includes:
    • Two day Walt Disney World Park Hopper ticket
    • Entry to competition at ESPN Wide World of Sports each competition day
    • Championship Event Experience including premium venues, staff, awards and more!

Please note that if you choose the commuter package, you will have to book your own hotel rooms and also provide transportation to/from ESPN Wide World of Sports each day for Competition.

Checklist For NSSC Registration

Check off this list the week of registration for NHSCC, NDTC, or NSDC to make sure your team has everything to get registered!

  • Coaches have USA Cheer Membership
  • NFHS Squad Credentialing completed by December 31st
  • Received a Bid already or waiting to achieve Bid at an upcoming Regional
    • If Bid is not awarded, your deposit will be refunded
  • Current Master Roster of athletes competing and alternates
  • Designate a Safety Champion for each of your teams (cannot be the coach)
  • Register for the event based on Hotel Choice:
    • Moderate/Deluxe Resorts: Coronado, Caribbean, and Animal Kingdom
    • Value Resorts: All Star and Pop Century
    • Commuters (not staying on Disney property)
  • Be ready with deposit – due for all who registering (athletes, coaches, and families)
  • Parents – be ready with their numbers IF they are staying on package

Disney Tickets

  • Each travel package (hotel & commuter) comes with a Walt Disney World Theme Park ticket. ​
  • You can pay in full via:​
    • Purchase order for balance – must be signed ​
    • Check for final balance ​
    • Credit card payment ​
  • When you pay in full you will receive your theme park ticket confirmation numbers via email. ​
  • When you receive your ticket numbers, you will need to link your tickets to your My Disney Experience app. From there, you can make theme park reservations!

IT'S NATIONALS SEASON!

One Month Out

The countdown to NSSC is almost over. Check this list off starting at one month away to make sure you have everything ready when you arrive!

  • Division confirmation sent prior to schedule release. This is for verification of the team division, who should receive score sheets & video board at the venue and Varsity TV
  • Sign up for an Event Check In time
  • Open Practice Time! Make sure you have time to do to event check in prior. You must go there first to get appropriate lanyards, etc. Don’t go straight to practice from airport.
  • Performance Order will be released
  • Hotel assignments will be released
  • Confirming your USA Membership is up to date
  • Complete Release Waivers
  • Organize your music licensing
  • Checking schedule weekly for any updates on times and venues
  • Nationals meeting with parents and athletes to review the trip and information

Once You're In Orlando

Check off this list as you arrive in Orlando and get ready to have the best time with your team!

Hotel Check In:

  • Go to Disney Hotel to get your keys
  • All coaches and advisors go to celebrity hall to get wrists bands

Event Check In:

  • Sign up for a check in time (usually 3 weeks prior)
  • Digital Waivers for all coaches and participants this year
  • Music License
  • Show USA Cheer Membership – please bring their card on their phone (show image)
  • Make sure event registration PRIOR to practice time!

Practice Time:

  • Get one time slot regardless of the number of divisions you are in
  • Get 15 minutes on the mat
  • You’ll receive your confirmation a few weeks in advance. Your time and venue will be listed
  • Buses are provided from the package hotel to ESPN. If you are commuter, you will arrange your own transportation to get there
