Makayla Noble - Fall 2022

October 2022 – Varsity Brands Wheelchair Signage

Makayla Noble Surprised with Wheelchair Signage

As football season kicked off, Varsity Spirit and Varsity Brands surprised athlete Makayla Noble with wheelchair signage to match her uniform and represent her school. Noble sported her new decor for the first time as she cheered on the Prosper Eagles this past Friday.

Varsity Brands, VP of Operations Innovation Jennifer Fitzmaurice pitched the idea of school spirit focused décor for wheelchairs as her team brainstormed on ways to decorate prosthetics. Fitzmaurice’s husband is a trainer at the Adaptive Training Foundation (ATF) in Prosper, Texas, where he had been working with Noble.

Fitzmaurice said when she first introduced the idea, the Innovation Creative Director, Ojay Juarez, immediately started drafting mockups for designs. She then brought the idea to the Varsity Spirit team who, along with key Varsity Brands production partners, jumped at the opportunity to help with this new way of elevating the student experiences.

Varsity Spirit surprised Noble at ATF where she trains and continues to make progress daily. The signage sets onto the back of her chair and reads “Prosper Eagles,” her high school’s mascot. The wheel covers continue to represent her school’s colors of green and white, also with the personalization of her name on the signs.

These covers came second to the initial surprise signage that sits on the back of Makayla’s wheelchair. This gave her the opportunity to give her input on how she would like the wheel covers to look and to ensure proper sizing.

As Makayla continues to expand the means of a sideline cheerleader, we are happy to join that journey with her and explore ways to continue to adapt our custom design capabilities to new products. Follow along with updates on Makayla’s Fight as her season progresses.
