Get To Know The Game Day Divisions At NCA & NDA College

Collegiate spirit squads are set to return to Daytona Beach, Florida this April 7-9th to showcase their school's spirited traditions on stage at the 2022 NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship.

In 2018, NCA & NDA introduced their Game Day divisions as a way to provide a unique and exciting opportunity for school Spirit Programs to work together to showcase their ability to promote school spirit and excitement in support of their school and its athletic teams. 

The divisions not only allow the use of traditional sideline cheer and dance teams but also the incorporation of members of the school Marching Band, Pep Band, Drum Line, Mascot(s), Spirit Group/Club, etc.

In 2018, NC State University and Tarleton State University took home the first-ever NCA & NDA College Game Day titles.

During the championship, teams will perform their school's traditional fight song, a band chant section, and a crowd-leading section. Participants are encouraged to use signs, flags, megaphones, and poms to encourage the crowd to cheer along. 

Each performance is limited to three minutes and should include skills that influence crowd participation. 

Teams will be evaluated on their ability to lead the crowd, proper game day skill incorporations, execution of skills, motion technique, and the overall routine impression. 

In 2021, five spirited schools were named NCA & NDA College Game Day Champions. As you get set to watch the Game Day divisions LIVE on Varsity TV this April, take a look back at the winning Game Day routines from 2021.
