A Letter to Future #NDAstaff: This company rocks!

Dear Future NDA Staff,

First of all, hi! My name is Megan and I’m a 3rd – soon to be 4th – year NDA Instructor. I’m originally from Kansas City Missouri, but am currently living and going to college in New York City. I am so incredibly excited you’re considering Staff because, let me tell you, I remember being right in your shoes 3 years ago. Filling out my application, I had no idea what role NDA would play in my life, and now here I am writing to you about all the incredible things this company has done for me.

I’m going to be completely honest, I originally chose to audition for staff because I was fresh out of high school and needed a job heading into my freshman year of college. I was “apped” at my senior year high school dance team camp and thought, “well, I like dancing and I need the money, so why not?” Thank goodness I sent in that application, though, because NDA has truly changed my life for the better (cheesy, I know, but oh so true). In this company, I have met some of my best friends and have had some of the best experiences of my life. I’ve become a more confident teacher and person and have gained professional skills that carry me through internships and positions to this day. Basically what I’m saying is, this company rocks!

Technically, being an NDA Instructor means traveling to dance team camps and teaching teams of all ages, levels choreography, technique, and general team skills. In reality, though, being a staffer is so much more than what any job description could explain. Over the past 3 summers with NDA I have been able to watch dancers and teams grow over the years, see many of my past campers become staff themselves, learn tremendous amounts from other staff and participate in incredible opportunities outside of camp. NDA has given me the chance to be a part of promotional photo and video shoots, work multiple national dance team events and even go to Disney World for the Christmas parade. How many times am I going to say it? I don’t know, but this company rocks!

In words other than, “this company rocks,” though, what I’m trying to say is that if you’re debating whether or not to apply for NDA staff, go for it. If you’re set on applying and have already re-recorded your audition video 8 times, even better. NDA Staff is more than just a job; it’s a family. We get paid to be surrounded by people who share the same passion and it’s obvious how happy we are to do it. I hope you’ll choose to share your summer with the rest of the NDA Staff next year!

Sincerely Yours,
NDA Megan
