The 2018 CA State CSC (STUNT) Championship will take place May 4 in Sacramento, California, and the Varsity TV crew is giving you a front-row seat to all the action.

STUNT is the fastest growing female sport in the United States with 10 states recognizing the sport. This is the fifth year STUNT has held matches in California, and 2018 marks the first year STUNT is recognized as an official sport in California.

Only the best of the best California STUNT teams will compete at the 2018 CA State CSC (STUNT) Championship. To qualify, these teams had to win their section championship.

STUNT is the up-and-coming sports version of cheerleading that removes the crowd-leading element and focuses solely on the technical and athletic components. In STUNT, teams go head-to-head performing the same routine. The team that executes the routine the best wins the round and gets the point. If a tie is called during a round, both teams will receive a point.

The fast-paced, high-energy games keep the teams and the crowd on the edge of their seat throughout the full four quarters. No need to wait around for awards to find out how you did, a scoreboard is used to show immediate results during the event.

The four-quarter format is broken out by skills. Within each quarter, the routines progress with difficulty and allow more athletes to participate.

Here is how a match breaks down:

  • First Quarter – Partner Stunts
  • Second Quarter – Pyramids & Tosses
  • Halftime
  • Third Quarter – Jumps & Tumbling
  • Fourth Quarter – Team Routine

Meet Your 2026 West Coast Cup Cheer & Dance Champions

The race for the 2026 West Coast Cup was back on this season for season 3 for cheer teams, plus season 2 of the West Coast Cup race for dance teams! The West Coast Cup is a prestigious honor following all star cheer & dance teams' journey at select West Coast events. To earn the honor of being named a West Coast Cup champion, cheer teams must be the highest scoring D1 or D2  team in their division at these three events: The American Grand - Grand Nationals in Las Vegas, NV, Spirit Sports Grand Nationals in Palm Springs, CA, and the USA All Star Cheer Super Nationals in Anaheim, CA. On the dance side, teams must earn first place at the GSSA Grand Nationals in Bakersfield, CA, Spirit Sports Grand Nationals in Palm Springs, CA, and the USA All Star Dance Super Nationals in Anaheim, CA.
