#UCAstaff Camp Series: Southeastern Louisiana University

Hi! My name is @UCAcameron and I’m from the state of Louisiana! Let me tell you all about summer camps at Southeastern Louisiana University!

UCA Camp is the pinnacle of the summer for many high school cheerleading teams across the country. Whether a team is traveling far or staying close to home for camp, they can count on camp being a highlight of their summer together. Camp is where many teams catch their stride through learning how to work with one another, or even just getting to know each other better. As an instructor, it is fulfilling to help teams reach their goals and see how much they grow in our short time together.

Some of my favorite camps to work at are hosted by Southeastern Louisiana University, the college I attend and cheer for! Southeastern camps have an amazing environment, as there is often a great mixture of local teams and teams from neighboring states. It is always great to see teams creating bonds with other teams, as it enhances the camp experience for everyone!

One of my favorite things about Southeastern camps is that the Pep Rally is held in Strawberry Stadium, right on Southeastern’s Lions football field. The teams attending summer camp get to experience and learn how to run a successful pep rally in an incredible environment and location!

Another reason I love Southeastern UCA Camps is because I have the opportunity to work with my teammates who are also UCA Instructors along with so many other talented colligate athletes! Throughout camp, the staff become very close with one another, much like the teams we are able to work with, so it’s an amazing bonding experience for everyone.

This past summer, at Southeastern II I was partnered with Silliman Institute as their big sister. I loved watching them progress throughout the week, as their energy and smiles were infectious. Their confidence bloomed, which lead them to a great final day performance filled with new skills and a great sideline presence to take home with them.

Southeastern camps are often the first camps held in Louisiana for the summer. They are always a great start to the season and hold some of my favorite memories! We hope to see you there next year!
