There’s NO(le) place like home!

Hey y’all! My name is Katie and I am one half of @UCATwins. I am a UCA Instructor from Florida and a cheerleader at Florida State University! Now I may be biased, but I couldn’t think of any better place for UCA Camp than Florida State University; a location riddled with tradition and camps with so many amazing qualities.

One thing that makes UCA Camp at Florida State special is the variety of camps that are offered. Whether you’re looking for a Traditional Camp, an Elite Camp or even a Stunt Camp, FSU has all three! In my opinion, this makes camp at FSU triple the fun!

Camp is held steps from Doak Campbell Stadium, in the Albert J. Dunlap Indoor Practice Facility. This 120-yard indoor turf facility allows for ample practice space and a great opportunity for teams to get game day ready. Accordingly, we love having the opportunity to host camp in this spacious and state of the art facility. When I asked Florida State University Spirit Director Staci Sutton about having camp at her school she said, “I love that we get to share our amazing facility with middle school and high school cheerleaders.  It’s gives them an opportunity to see what it’s like to be at Florida State University.  I hope it inspires some of them to attend this great university and become Seminoles one day!”

A typical day at Florida State UCA Camp includes just as much fun as there is learning. The teams who attend camps at Florida State are not only there to improve their skills but also to grow and bond as a team. At UCA, something that is very important to us is family. This past year, my sister Emily and I bonded our littles, Mosley High School JV and McGill-Toolen Catholic High School JV, together to be one family! It was amazing watching the teams interact and cheer each other on throughout camp. We even made a small chant to cheer each other on, “Orange you glad to be a Jacket and a Dolphin!”

I love sharing my school with so many amazing young cheerleaders and I can’t wait for more camps. As I like to say, there is NO(le) place like home! I hope to see you at a Florida State UCA Camp next summer!
