In 2017, thousands of fans nominated and voted for their favorite scholastic spirit squads in the 2017 Cheerleader's Choice Spirit Spotlight. One of the six teams chosen to be featured on Varsity TV last season was Texas Tech University.

Texas Tech is known for their big game day atmosphere in Lubbock, Texas. In It's Game Day: Texas Tech, the Red Raider Spirit Squads showed fans what a game day experience is like at their university.

Head cheer coach Bruce Bills said that being selected as a Cheerleader's Choice team in 2017 was an amazing experience for the TTU program and great way to showcase our college football game day atmosphere.

"Being selected gave the viewers an opportunity to see what all goes into our practices, game preparations, and the actual game itself."
