We cheer for 105,000+ at football and 17,000+ for basketball.

DANCE DETAILS:

The Ohio State University Dance Team works to promote and uphold school spirit and Buckeye pride and represent the University on a national level. The team currently performs at all home football games, home men's basketball games, and select women's basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, and wrestling events throughout the year. In addition, the team plays an integral role in the Ohio State Community by performing at pep rallies, parades, and other University-related events throughout Columbus.

The team practices 2-3 times per week and attends bi-weekly workouts resulting in around a 15-20 hour per week commitment. Members of the team have access to all of the student-athlete resources that Ohio State has to offer including priority scheduling, tutoring, a nutritionist, etc.

Dance Scholarship Details: $500-2000 for third and/or fourth year members (varies annually)

  • Jumps (advanced pom jumps and combos)

  • Style (control and quality of movement)
  • Sharpness and Strength
  • Collegiate image

Process:

It is encouraged that all interested dancers attend an on-campus clinic prior to submitting a video. Clinics are offered in the Summer, Fall and Spring.

Step 1: All incoming freshmen, transfer students and current Ohio State students looking to join the team must submit a qualifying video. 

Step 2: Qualifying video results are sent and dancers continuing to the next step are invited to an on-campus audition.

Competition Involvement: Coed Cheer, Dance and the Mascot program compete at UCA and UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team Nationals. Cheer competes in the Large Coed D1A division. The dance team has placed in the Top 5 the past seven years.

History was made at the inaugural National School Band Championship as talented bands from across the country took center stage at The Walt Disney World Resort! The competition, part of the National School Spirit Championships, showcased the energy, musicianship and school pride of programs competing in the standalone Pep Band Division. Bands were also able to collaborate with their cheer and dance teams in the Spirit Program Game Day Live division.
