The Low Down On L5 Large Senior At NCA

Senior Large Level 5 knows what it means to go big or go home. Teams of up to 36 members will take the mat at NCA All-Star Nationals on Sunday, Feb. 26 and Monday, Feb. 27 to compete for the Large Senior Level 5 division title and there won’t be an empty seat in the arena!

The lights, sounds and energy will give even the most seasoned cheer fan chills as some of the most iconic teams leave everything that they have on the mat. You should keep an eye on the 2016 reigning champions this weekend. Last year’s all girl title was taken home by World Cup Shooting Stars and the Cheer Athletics Cheetahs snagged black jackets in the coed division.

The World Cup Shooting Stars are always a crowd favorite team; 2016 was the first year they’d won after a 3-peat streak in 2010-2012, after the Cheer Athletics Panthers knocked them from their top spot in 2013-2015 with a 3-peat run of their own. And these two powerhouse teams aren’t alone in this division – other top contenders in Large Senior are The Stingray Allstars Orange, KC Cheer Fearless, Texas Lonestar Cheer Company and the 2016 reigning World champs, Maryland Twisters F5.

You can always expect excitement and a bold theme in every Shooting Stars routine. Their Lady Gaga themed performance in 2016 may not have earned them the chance to perform in the Super Bowl Halftime Show…but it did earn them black jackets and a national championship title in 2016! Will they keep their title in 2017?

Despite their signature look, the only ‘spots’ the Cheetahs are looking to fill are at the top of the podium in Level 5 Large Senior Coed Division. Spins on spins helped Cheer Athletics get the win! After Top Gun went back-to-back in 2014 and 2015, Cheer Athletics earned their black jackets in 2016! Before their most recent title, the Cheetah’s hadn’t seen a title since 2012.
