Live Oak High School from Watson, Louisiana, took home not one but TWO national championship titles last year at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship. After claiming gold in both Medium Varsity Division l and Super Varsity Game Day, the Eagles knew coming into the new year that as their goals grew so should their team! Live Oak is moving from Medium Varsity to Large Varsity for the 2017 UCA High School Nationals this weekend in Orlando, Florida.

Kate Allen, Live Oak Head Coach

“The amount of talent we had at tryouts was too good not to include more. We have eight seniors and they all contribute so much and are so talented, so spreading them out was a benefit for our squad. We excited because it is a new division and we look forward to the challenge of competing against new teams.”

Maddie Guidry, Live Oak Head Coach

“We want to HIT a solid routine and continue to improve on our skills. We want to do our best to be successful in a new division!”

Geauxing For Gold In 2017

The Eagles do their best to be completely comfortable on the mats by the time they arrive in Orlando. They have scheduled more performances and group practices to get more experience performing in front of a crowd and get critiques from other coaches.

Maddie Guidry, Live Oak Head Coach

“We start our entire routine off with a difficult elite because we love to showcase it and leave a lasting first impression.”

Kate Allen, Live Oak Head Coach

“We hope to have a clean hit in every performance for both Large Varsity and Game Day. We want to leave Disney knowing we gave it our absolute best and we left it all on the mat. We hope to make our state, community, and school very proud!”

At the end of every single practice, the Live Oak cheerleaders say their favorite quote, and they try to live by its words.

Why do we succeed?
We succeed because we are willing to do the things you are not.
We will fight against the odds.
We will sacrifice.
We are not shackled by fear, insecurity, or doubt.
Pride consumes the weak.
If we fall, we will get up.
If we are beaten, we will return.
We will never stop getting better.
We will never give up. Ever.
That is why we succeed.
