Texas Teams Bring Spirit to the UIL State Championship

Texas spirit is larger than life here at the UIL State Championship!

Texas spirit squads are giving it their all this week in Fort Worth for the UIL Spirit State Championship! This state competition focuses on the traditional game day role cheerleaders have on the sidelines and in schools supporting athletic teams.

Teams are taking the mat in three different categories including: crowd leading, fight song, and band chant. Many of these elements were learned at UCA or NCA Camp this summer, fine-tuned on the sidelines during football season and put in the spotlight for a show-stopping performance at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

The energy has been through the roof as teams use their signs, poms, mascots, flags and megaphones to make the entire arena feel like their home turf. The traditions and crowd-leading elements that each team is bringing to the competition gives the judges and spectators the full Texas Game Day atmosphere. Communities have been rallying together to support their cheer team by yelling along with them right next to the stage. Coaches, dads, moms, grandparents, siblings and friends are all in attendance to show their home-town pride.

The UIL Spirit State Championship is put on by Varsity Spirit and was designed to highlight the skills and spirit raising elements that cheer teams perform on the sidelines at every game. With the same elements that are included in the Game Day Division at UCA and NCA Nationals, teams are easily able to transition their UIL routines right onto the nationals floor in hopes of bringing home a Game Day National Championship title!

Congratulations to the teams that have already competed this week, and good luck to the spirit squads who are preparing to compete this weekend. We are all cheering for you here at Varsity Spirit!
