Syosset High School Took On The Virtual NDA National Championship

The NDA National Championship is the premier place for dance teams to compete against the best of the best. Though this year, they took on the competition virtually!

Taking on their 8th year competing at the 2021 NDA National Championship, Syosset High School is competing this year virtually for the first time in the Small Varsity Jazz division and Large Varsity Kick division.

Throughout this year of chaos and uncertainty, the coaches have really tried to maintain a sense of normalcy for the team.

 “Our goals for this year are to be able to come together as a team and perform against all odds stacked against us,” says coach, Lauren Grasso.  

The teams had a very late start of the season due to the New York statewide restrictions with high school sports. When they were able to start practice, they were extremely limited being only able to practice one day a week. Plus, having to stress about Covid positive cases and athletes needing to quarantine. To get the team ready for competition, they really had to overcome every possible obstacle, says Lauren Grasso. 

Despite their rocky start, Syosset High School is excited and ready to compete at the 2021 NDA National Championship this year and show everyone what they’ve been working on! 

“Whether we are competing in-person or virtually, after this crazy year and all of the unknowns, our dancers are very excited to have the opportunity to compete and showcase their hard work from this season,” said Lauren.
