Eight teams took the stage today to compete in the Large Varsity Show Cheer Advanced division at the 2020 USA Spirit Nationals and the division was jam-packed with talent.

Saugus High School, the reigning champions of the division, is hoping to repeat their championship success and take home the top spot for the second year in a row.

Head Coach of Saugus High School, Candace Rogers, told Varsity TV that the team has really been working on consistency and execution this season in the hopes of hitting a clean routine and defending their title.

Saugus opens up their routine with running and standing tumbling before transitioning into a jump sequence and a strong elite stunt that features a 1 3/4 up immediate scale.

Rogers told Varsity TV that their cheer is something she hopes will make her team stand out from the competition.

The Centurions yell "Saugus Strong" in their cheer to represent their school and everything they've gone through this year.

What would it mean to Saugus High School to defend their title in 2020? Rogers told Varsity TV that it would mean the world to them.

"These girls live for this. To take it home again would mean everything."
