Open All Girl Game Day Champions Return To Defend Their Title

While Hofstra University is no stranger to championship glory, the New York team made history in 2019 when they entered the Open All Girl Game Day division and claimed the national championship title.

“We were completely shocked to take home the National title in the Game Day division last year,” said head coach Christine Farina. “This was so new and exciting for our program as it gave many female athletes the opportunity to take the mat at Nationals. Our team, the coaches, and our University were so proud to represent our basketball traditions and show everyone what the PRIDE does back at home.”

Hofstra Cheer has always been passionate about creating the ultimate game day experience for their fans so when the College Game Day divisions were introduced at the UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship, Farina knew it would be a perfect fit for her program.

“For us, the preparation begins at UCA College Camp where we begin to train our members on our Hofstra traditions and focus on looking Collegiate at games and events throughout the season.”

This year, Hofstra wants to really demonstrate their game day traditions and give the fans watching an inside look at what game day is like back at home.

“We have some new skills in our Band Chant and love that our props really coordinate with our theme for the Timeout,” Farina added.

Will Hofstra have fans cheering for the Pride after their game day routine? Be sure to tune in to Varsity TV at 3 PM ET in the HP Field House to watch Hofstra Cheer take the mat in Semi-Finals and work to defend their title in the Open All Girl Game Day division.
