We are only six days away from the premiere of the newest documentary on Varsity TV! All Or Nothing: Desoto Central features Desoto Central High School on their journey at the 2020 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship. The team is the back-to-back reigning national champions on the Super Varsity Game Day division, and they’re going for a three-peat!

The team is made up of incredible athletes and Journey Norris is one of those athletes. She is a senior and leader on the prestigious team and wants nothing more than to be successful for her team.

Journey is from Germantown, Tennessee and has been cheering for six years! She started off doing gymnastics but found her love for cheerleading in the 6th grade. Journey has big plans after graduation and has a goal to cheer for the University of West Georgia!

Journey is not only a star on the mat, but her academics make her an overall great student-athlete. She is a part of The National Honor Society and has been on the honor roll every year throughout high school! Check out all of Journey's cheerleading accomplishments!

Journey has been very successful in life so far, but she didn't get here alone. She has many of people in her life that have helped her along the way!

"I have a bunch of supporters like my sponsor Marie Harlow and my best friends," said Journey, "but I would say my biggest supporters are both my parents and my coach Joe Arkansas. My parents have always supported my cheerleading career and always make me take one more step to better myself in the long run. They appreciate the discipline and the structure it has put in my life and they understand I would be a completely different person without it."

Coaches can play a huge role in their athletes lives, and Journey's coach Joe Arkansas has done just that for her.

"Joe is like my best friend, my coach, and a parent figure all in one!" said Journey. "We can talk about cheer for hours because we are both so passionate about the sport. Yes, he has yelled at me but he pushed me like no other coach has, and I think I would be nowhere near where I am right now if it weren’t for him."

"My parents and Joe are a crucial part of my cheer career, and I probably would not enjoy it as much or be doing it any longer if they weren’t in it." -Journey Norris

Journey says the season was off to a slow start, but once the team found their bond, they were unstoppable! Along with being the back-to-back reigning national champions comes a little extra pressure.

“This season we have had the most pressure on us to be perfect all the time,” said Journey, “because in gameday or traditional there is no room for error. You have to be on your A-game at all times!”

Be sure to check out the premiere of All Or Nothing: Desoto Central next Wednesday on Varsity TV to follow Journey and her team’s experience at the 2020 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship!
