Little Lead Takes Home The Big Prize

Watching the Tiny divisions at any competition is always extremely entertaining because of how cute the athletes are. It is also inspirational because you are genuinely looking at the future of All Star.

The Tiny division at PAC Battle of Champions was full of high-spirited and talented athletes battling it out for the top spot.  At the end of the weekend, Dynasty Cheer Allstars had what it took to come out on top with their team, Little Lead.

Getting athletes at such a young age to perform at a consistently high level can be a challenge. However, Little Lead’s coaches Shawna Bayda (also Co-Owner of the program), Sarah Codner, and Holly Wise have found that this group has been willing and able to take on the skills to be a top Tiny team. Bayda told us, “Our coaches are so great with the girls on this team. They have excelled by learning how to stunt, work together, and to recover when something goes wrong.”

She also noted how they have been working hard on their tumbling skills and have achieved a great deal already this season on that front. They are hoping to continue to move forward with skill progressions and keep Little Lead on a steady path of development.

In preparation for this big event, the coaches made sure to have a solid mix of hard work and fun reward systems.

“Our Tiny athletes love practicing like our older athletes, from warmup, stretch, and throughout the practice. We work hard but have lots of fun while doing it with stickers, earning beads for their jars and showoffs,” Bayda remarked.

She told us about how they genuinely look up to the older athletes and learn from them as well. With it being the first year the program has had a competitive Tiny team, they have been eager to see how the team would perform. The team loves to perform, and they were eager to come out to Calgary and hit. They were able to hit a zero-deduction routine in Finals and come away with a decisive victory.

Looking to the future, being on this team now is preparing these athletes both on and off of the cheer mat.

“This team has prepared them for the future by teaching them not only cheer skills, but life skills as well, even at such a young age.”

She added that they strive to teach the athletes about accountability, being able to work well with others, and most of all to have excellent sportsmanship. In addition, they are also pushing their skills to be ready for the next level of team and moving up throughout the years.

Investing in a Tiny program is an important process to develop the future of a program. Dynasty Cheer Allstars has a very bright future, evidenced by the performance of Little Lead this weekend. They are on a steady path to success, and there is no stopping these young athletes as they keep going.
