Get to know Lura Fleece, Director of All Star Experience in the Northeast Region!

What is your favorite thing about your job?

Being able to have a career in something that you love is pretty amazing. I love being a part of a team that creates new ideas and gets to see them come to life. There are many times in my career I have walked into an event and say “wow” we did this!

When did you first get in to the all star cheer and dance community?

I cheered at the University of Maryland and coached there for the next 25 years after that! During my time as a coach I worked for NCA, worked on the fashion side and also worked as an event producer. I am lucky enough to be able to say I saw the first all star teams come to life in the 90’s. As a college coach at the time, we had previously picked athletes that could only co-ed stunt so when all- star teams started to be created it opened up a whole new opportunity for female athletes that weren’t just “flyers”. Because of the all star world were able to start our first all- girl team at U of MD and had a powerhouse program for many years.

Who is your hero and why?

I don’t really have just one “Hero” I look up to anyone who puts other first, isn’t afraid to speak the truth, is mentally and physically tough, and loves from the heart.

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would you do?

My perfect day would be a CrossFit workout in the am, a walk on the beach with my dogs and then attend one my kids sporting events!

What is one thing that motivates you the most?

Watching new ideas and concepts come to life and seeing the benefit it can have on our industry. I absolutely love problem-solving and figuring out ways to make things more efficient and customer friendly.

What are your hobbies, and how did you get into them?

I love fitness. My husband owns a CrossFit gym and it is our “home away from home”. We have an amazing community who supports and inspires each other in and out of the gym. I also work with the Baltimore Ravens Cheerleading team as a corner coach and fitness trainer.

What is one piece of advice you would have for your younger self?

JUST BE YOU! Trying to be someone you think everyone else wants you to be is a lot of work. When you realize we all really want the same thing in life (to love and be loved) life is a lot easier to move through.

What is a quote that you live your life by?

“Live in the present moment and accept what is”. Living in the present moment means no longer worrying about what happened in the past and not fearing what will happen in the future[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
