SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Scholarships Offered: GSU does not offer scholarships for cheer and dance at this time. However, all team members are provided with all practice gear, shoes, warm ups, sweats, uniforms, poms, back packs, paid travel, early registration, study hall, academic tutoring, sports medicine treatment, required workouts by the strength and conditioning coach, and recognition as student athletes of the university.

Mascot: Mascots are offered a small stipend each semester based on how many events he or she participates in. These stipends range from $200 to $500. Mascots are also provided with all practice gear, shoes, warm ups, sweats, uniforms, poms, back packs, paid travel, early registration, study hall, academic tutoring, sports medicine treatment, required workouts by the strength and conditioning coach, and recognition as student athletes of the university.

TRYOUT INFORMATION

CHEER:

Tryout Dates: Tryouts are held in May each year.

Tryout Requirements:

  • Round One – Traditional spirit material, standing and running tumbling, basic stunt skills, and the fitness test 
  • Round Two – Fight song with tumbling and stunts incorporated, optional stunt, and a professional interview

DANCE:

Tryout Dates: Tryouts are held in May each year. 

Tryout Requirements:

  • Round One – Spirit material, technical skills (double and triple turns, toe touch, etc.), and a free style dance moment
  • Round Two – Fight song with technical elements, an audition routine, a solo routine, and a professional interview
