Teams from around the Denver area have excelled over the past five to seven years, creating an amazingly competitive atmosphere for cheerleaders each fall. With two strong regionals in the state of Colorado and a whole week dedicated to league tournaments, Colorado cheer teams have quite the journey as they work towards state and nationals.

The noble Huskies from Douglas County High School are one of the teams pushing their limits every week to bring that competitive fire in performances.

After graduating many seniors, the County Cheer team has taken on a new life and new spirit for 2017.

The girls from County have been training hard since summer to grow their abilities every day in hopes of capturing a title this season. While the competition cheer process is lengthy, it requires the team to focus day in and day out so they don’t get complacent with skills and performing.

After much preparation from their August choreography session with V!ROC, the Huskies started building something special on the mat — and something special between themselves.

To kick off the competitive season, County Cheer took the mat first at the Southern Colorado Regional in Pueblo, Colorado. It was the first Colorado regional for 2017 so there were a lot of nerves in the building that day. The Huskies had prepared for the chaos so they were ready to take the storm head on.

After an exciting HIT at Pueblo, the Huskies were ecstatic.

The Huskies cheered on the other teams from around the Denver Metro as they performed before settling in for swards where they soon found out that they won their division and earned bid to UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida. County Cheer’s JV program also took home top honors!

Douglas County is eager to compete this weekend at the UCA & UDA Mile High Championship. This will be a tough competition as the Huskies compete up against nearby Colorado competitors Chaparral, Legend, and Grandview High School. There Colorado teams are all hoping for top performances as they prepare for the 2017 CHSAA Spirit Championships in December.

Will the Huskies continue to climb towards success this season? Tune in to watch Douglas County take the mat LIVE at 9:49 PM MT at the UCA & UDA Mile High Championship only on Varsity TV.
