Davenport Dance Resiliently Looking For Another Title

Davenport Dance is back once again to The 2021 NCA & NDA Collegiate National Championship to fight for another National Title. The panthers are honored to be 2-time National Champions in 2017 for Hip Hop and Team Performance. The team has come all the way from The Mitten State in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to make their 11th appearance at the championship!

This year coach and alumni Kylene Geyer and Shelby Poch have focused goals for Davenport in Division 2 Team Performance and Jazz.

"We thrive on goals! Our biggest being to always improve our scores year over year, leave the floor with no regrets, and we would love to bring home a Championship to our University this year." – Kylene Geyer

Coach Geyer is immensely proud of her athletes. She says she has never seen such maturity growth in such a small amount of time. The team was able to instill what it means to be a DUDT dancer to a large class of Freshmen! Coach Geyer still sees them embracing the panther pack.

"In many ways this season, we were all pouring from empty cups, but we endured…They deserve this moment more than ever." – Kylene Geyer

This season the team embodies their team word, resilient.  Committing to a team throughout a year like this is hard, however, the dancers have all been present and have taken on everything thrown at them. This team of majority rookies has grown together and defined resilience. "They all bring a piece to our puzzle that makes us DUDT," Coach Geyer says. "Each of them is special and each of them looks up to each other for different strengths. They know they are not the same and with that learn from each other. "

The Panthers are preparing to hit the peak of both routines at NDA College Nationals this year. Many practices and moments go into their routines leading up to their send-off. Once this team arrives in Florida, the emotions usually add on the last layer they need for competition day!

With each unknown and barrier, the anticipation for the 2021 NCA & NDA Collegiate National Championship is unlike any previous season. The feeling will also be unlike anything before when Davenport exits that bandshell in sunny Daytona.
