Courtside With Cheer And Dance At Memphis Madness

Memphis fans took over the FedExForum on October 12 to get a first look at their beloved Tigers at the university’s basketball season kickoff, Memphis Madness.

This was the first year the university hosted the famous preseason event since 2014. Over five thousand Tiger fans packed the arena to get a first look at the 2017-18 basketball team, as well a chance to watch the national champion spirit program perform.

The 14-time national champion Memphis Pom team kick-started the performance with a hard-hitting hip hop routine to popular hit “Humble” by Kendrick Lamar.

Once Memphis Pom awakened the crowd, the dance team moved to the side of the court to give room for the U of M Cheerleading team to take center stage. Memphis cheer brought the performance to new heights with high-flying tuck baskets and elite hand-in-hand stunts.

The small coed squad will be working to claim back-to-back national championships this season at the 2018 UCA & UDA college national championship.
