Build A Connection With Your Student Section This Fall

Fall is almost here, and that means colder weather, comfy sweaters, pumpkin spice everything, and of course: football games! From parades to pre-game tailgates, football games build a sense of school spirit and community with everyone involved.

One of the best ways to increase that spirit within your school is with a student section. Cheerleaders and dancers can help increase student section participation and spirit with these easy tips.

1. Start The Conversation

Let your student body know you need them! Pass out flyers or use your squad's social media accounts to help get the word out. Invite the entire school to come out and show support for your team.

2. Plan Themes

Make each game fun and unique. Plan theme nights and be prepared to go all out! Pass out flower leis for a beach bash theme or glow sticks for a blackout. Use your social media to promote each theme all week long to ensure total participation.

3. Create Lasting Traditions

The student section is much more than a group of fans on Friday night — they help build the atmosphere for every game and give students a sense of pride for their school for years to come. Help make your school's student section memorable by creating fun traditions that can be passed down from class to class.

Try building a school themed spirit stick that can be given to the most spirited senior after every game. That student would then oversee decorating the stick for the upcoming game. The spirit stick will keep being passed game after game creating a fun tradition.
