Alma College Dance is back at the 2021 NCA & NDA Collegiate National Championship as one of the newer programs that began in 2016. The team competed at the prestigious event in 2018 and 2019, and with more excitement than ever, they were set to compete in 2020 after coming off of a win as the 2019 Division III Team Performance National Champions. Now, their chance in 2021 has come!

They are led by head coach Tracy Burton and assistant coach Rebecca Gieleghem. Their college is located in the small town of Alma, Michigan and they will be competing in the Team Performance and Jazz categories at the 2021 NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer & Dance Championship!

Alma College Dance is united as a family of 30 dancers with 13 first-year team members! Their goal this season is to be resilient, despite all of the restrictions and change this past year has brought them.

This year Alma College built the dance program a dance studio. The studio was named the “The Sanctuary”. It is the dance team's safe place, escape from the world, and space to grow as dancers and people. In a year of difficulties, this gift was a bright light in their lives!

Coach Burton said “This team cares about each other and are protective of the family-like, positive culture we’ve built. They do what is right and push each other to be better every day.” Alma College is ready to compete this year and can’t wait to see all of the talented teams in Daytona. With the championship being the best of the best, they are honored to be included amongst them.

This year Alma College Dance is grateful to have support from the administration and their college to be able to compete in person at the 2021 NCA & NDA Collegiate National Championship. To them, it is such a special reward to have some normalcy after a year of sacrifices!

This last year has been one that no one will be able to forget with the intense dedication, resilience, and growth that has occurred. Coach Burton said she has never been prouder of this team!

“My heart feels like it could bust when I think about the dancers I’m lucky enough to coach.” -Tracy Burton
