2021 NCA Go Be Great Scholarship

The National Cheerleader’s Association awarded two incredible seniors with the official Go Be Great Scholarship at the 2021 NCA High School National Championship. This is a scholarship opportunity for high school seniors who have a focus on Academic Excellence, Athletic Achievement, and Exemplary Character! All 80 applicants have done great things for their community and go above and beyond for others. Congratulations to Laurel Jones and Melina Fedewa on receiving the 2021 NCA Go Be Great Scholarship of $2,000!

How has cheerleading had a positive impact on your life?
As far back as I can remember, I have truly loved the sport of cheerleading and everything it stands for: Hard-Work, Strength, Determination, and Leadership. The amazing qualities I have learned through cheerleading will forever be apart of me, and allow me to achieve my scholastic goals, as well as continue to make an impact in people’s lives not only across the state of Texas, but the whole Nation!

How has cheerleading had a positive impact on your life?
Cheerleading has taught me many skills and life lessons I plan to incorporate in my future nursing career – public speaking, connecting with people on a deeper level, and hard work. Now as I look to turn in my skirt for scrubs, cheerleading has provided me the ultimate guide to the next journey I want to embark on… the journey to save lives.
