Calgary Stars Shine At PAC Battle Of Champions

The pressure was on for Calgary Stars Gymnastics and Cheerleading, competing at a high-caliber event in their own backyard. 

Sometimes, competing close to home can bring its own set of challenges. It can be tough to get athletes to feel like the event is special when they don’t have to travel to it. But any of those potential roadblocks did not come to fruition in Calgary, as the program has been shining bright across all levels. 

This weekend, Calgary Stars brought a formidable group of teams to PAC Battle of Champions, and they did not disappoint the home crowd. They have had at least one team in first place in Levels 1-4. They have shined bright like the stars in their team names, and they have made their presence known.

One noteworthy performance from the program came from Calgary Stars Odyssey in the Level 2 Junior A division.

They opened with some very unique standing tumbling formations that grabbed everyone’s attention right off the bat. Next, they utilized an extremely smooth and speedy entry into their stunts, and never stopped moving from there. Their stunts transitioned all across the floor, keeping the creativity flowing throughout.

They clearly have an emphasis on tumbling form with this group, as they showcased beautiful back handsprings with terrific execution. Something else that was great with this group was their variety of entrances into their standing tumbling. They used all of that to bring in a big score and take a commanding lead in the division.

In Level 3, Chaos took hold of their top spot in the International Junior division after Day 1 with a routine that was full of creative movement and phenomenal moments that had our jaws on the floor.

They used intricate partner work that led to tumbling that was very well done. Their stunts had great ripples and important skill combinations that helped to set them apart. Chaos kept us on our toes with direction-changing jump tumbling combos. They performed a pyramid that had so much up and down movement that there was never a moment of stillness. They finished with a dance that highlighted the two boys on the team very well.

These were just a few of the great performances by the program this weekend, and they earned some impressive scores and division finishes.

As a whole, the Calgary Stars showed great choreography, impressive movement, and great mastery of skills. They proved that they are a force to be reckoned with, and they were not going to let anyone challenge them in their own city without putting up a serious fight.

Calgary Stars are leaving the weekend with some great victories, and many incredible routines. Well done, Stars!
