Fort Osage Makes History At State & Competes At NCA!

Fort Osage High School kicked off the week on a high note as their Varsity team received rings for the first-ever state championship. Now they're off to nationals!

As they arrived at the NCA Senior & Junior High School National Championship, the team gathered to celebrate day one and prepared to take on their competition. The team began their day with a balloon release downtown, writing one thing on each balloon that they need to remember during the performance.

With a zero deduction practice room performance, and a solid showing on the mat later, the Indians are now heading into day two of NCA High School Nationals.

Head coach Heather Hopkins told us how their team and coaches were feeling after their first performance of the weekend.

"We were extremely proud of the performance, perseverance and technique our girls showcased on the mat today. We can’t wait to show up and hit even even stronger tomorrow!"

But this Independence, Missouri, team is more than just competitive. They're also great leaders in their community. Earlier in the year, the team volunteered at the Susan G. Komen Race For A Cure. This hit home later in the year when one of the athlete's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The team rallied, and supported their teammate to the fullest, strengthening their bond.

Now the team is rallying to compete in the Intermediate Medium High School division, which is one of the larger and more competitive divisions at NCA High School Nationals. Cheer on the Indians in Dallas or watch them LIVE on Varsity TV on Sunday!
