North Rockland Steps Up In Finals To Take NCA Title

North Rockland High School left Dallas, Texas, on cloud nine after taking home the title in the Advanced Open Performance Division at NCA Senior & Junior High School National Championship.

This is North Rockland’s fourth year competing at the championship and their second win.

Stefanie Petry, the Red Raiders’s assistant coach, said her team is ecstatic over the big win.

“We know the competition was amazing, so pulling off a win would be tough so they are extremely excited!” she said.

The squad was in second place going into finals, behind three-time reigning champs, Prestonwood Christian Academy.

"They were hungry. They became a team and worked together — channeling all their energy to one goal and achieved it."

Win or lose, the team’s main goal was to just hit a routine they could be proud of.

“No matter what, they wanted to leave Dallas with no deductions and no regrets — and they did just that!”

The Red Raiders lost their head coach last season, so the win in 2018 means even more to them.

“We know she was with us every step of the way. We felt her everywhere the whole weekend,” Petry said. “We are nothing but thankful for her energy and wisdom that got us to this moment and this win!”

"This means so much more than a win. It symbolizes that we can go through something that felt like the end of the world and use it to fuel our fire."
