Bluebonnets Are Houston Strong At NDA All-Star Nationals

The competition is intense and the standards have been set high in Grapevine, Texas at the 2018 NDA All Star National Championship!

The Dancin’ Bluebonnets out of Spring, Texas have made it to the competition and are excited to show off their hard work! The program will be hitting the floor in 14 different categories.

“This year we focused our choreography on movement quality and not necessarily cleaning.” Said Bluebonnets coach Sarah Garcia. “We definitely challenged ourselves and the team to not be ‘too robotic.’”

The Seniors of the Dancin’ Bluebonnets will be competing in Open Contemporary/Lyrical, Senior Jazz and Open Jazz, and this year with a young team of only three seniors!

“We have a strong Contemporary Style in Seniors this year.” Said Coach Garcia. “ Some of our strengths include our team work and determination to be one.”

The Senior Open Lyrical “Fly Away” routine is special to the team this year and shows a lot of emotion that helps tell their story.

“It helps us remember that each moment counts and not to take our time for granted.”

The team has received a bid to the 2018 Dance Worlds, but this competition has this team coming for more than just the bid!

"NDA is important to us because it also allows us the opportunity to compete against the best teams around," explained Coach Garcia.

“The caliber of talent at NDA is something we are inspired by every year!”

The program was faced with a major challenged earlier this season as the Dancin’ Bluebonnets took a big hit by Hurricane Harvey. The studio was completely flooded and they lost everything.

There was a lot of work to be done, but thankfully, dance athletes and family from around the area pulled together to get the studio back on their feet.

“We were completely blown away by the love and support from fellow dance studios in the area and our dance world family.”

Although Hurrican Harvey showed no mercy to Spring, Texas, the Bluebonnets didn’t let this disaster stop their drive. Coach Garcia said this event taught them to appreciate everything they have and it definitely brought the team closer as a whole!

The Dancin’ Bluebonnets started out strong at the 2018 NDA All Star National Championship this morning, but don’t miss the Open Contemporary/Lyrical team take the floor in the Grapevine Ballroom at 12:02PM CT on Varsity TV!
