Virtual Spirit Week

No matter where the pep rallies, pre-game events and game day takes place, your school needs you now more than ever to keep traditions alive. Create unique theme days for each day of the week leading up to the big game. Whether you’re supporting your school from the stands or tuning in virtually, here are some ideas to amplify your virtual spirit week.

Take polls

  • Allow students to offer their ideas for theme days
  • Send out a survey to students and parents to learn how to create high engagement surrounding this new virtual event

Make it personal to your school

  • Emphasize school traditions
  • Highlight areas that make your school unique
  • Feature students, administration, faculty and staff

Create awareness that this fun and exciting week is coming. The more ways to promote the event, the better:

  • Post about Virtual Spirit Week on your school’s social media accounts
  • Utilize school ambassadors, such as student council leaders, class presidents, senior athletes, etc., to share the excitement through their social media accounts
  • Send out a mass distribution email to students and parents

Make the experience interactive

  • Feature students’ content to the main school account
  • Set some times to “go live” so the whole school can feel like they are together

Create engaging content that keeps the week fun and upbeat

  • Keep a “story” going for each spirit day of the week
  • Create a “highlight reel” of the week so students can look back on this fun event, and generate new ideas for next time
  • Give shoutouts to students, groups, clubs, and teams throughout the week
  • Set “challenges” for the week
  • Be sure to create a #hashtag!

The best part about a spirit week is that no two schools are alike. Celebrate what makes your school unique, and why you are proud to attend your school. Whether we are together at school or together in spirit, it is important to keep spirit at the center of the student experience.
