The beginning of fall is often associated with school starting, leaves falling, and most importantly, football season! Dance teams play a crucial role in the game day atmosphere for fans and teams. When it comes to game day celebrations and traditions, it’s all about preparation. Here are some tips and tricks to help you and your team have a successful game day!

Tip #1 – Practice, practice, and more practice! The more confident you feel, the better you perform! When practicing, envision yourself in a stadium full of fans. Your dancing and movements must be BIG and full of energy so even the fans in the nosebleeds can see you! Be sure to go over fight songs and sideline routines as a team. If you are struggling with a certain routine or sideline, don’t be afraid to reach out to your teammates for help. Teamwork makes the dream work!

Tip #2 – Build your Stamina! Game day can be exhausting, especially if you are dancing in hot temperatures. Working out weekly with your teammates will not only improve your stamina, but also improve your dancing! Be sure to be getting cardio in as well as targeting certain muscle groups like your legs, arms, and abs!

Tip #3 – Eat Right! Before game day, you should be eating healthy foods to fuel your body! This means eating the right amount of proteins and complex carbohydrates. Avoid energy drinks and drinks jam packed with sugar. A balanced breakfast and healthy lunch can jump start your body’s metabolism and keep you energized throughout the day.

Tip #4 – Hydration is Key! Water will be your best friend when it comes to game day, especially the day before a game. Carry around a water bottle with you and keep track of how much water you are drinking. If you begin to feel worn out during a game, take a few sips of ice cold water to cool you off and re-energize yourself!

Tip #5 – Check your bag! This seems like a no-brainer, but making sure you have all the items you need will make for a worry-free game day experience. Triple check your list and make sure you have absolutely everything you need. There’s nothing worse than forgetting a uniform piece and stressing out! Ensuring that you have everything you need will make your life easier, your teammates lives easier, and most importantly, your coach’s life easier!

Applying these tips and tricks to your game day regimen will improve your season and help your team to bring the energy! Now, you and your team will be prepared to have the crowd engaged and on their feet!
