The DII National High School Cheerleading Competition: Who To Look Out For

The DII UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship is quickly approaching. Thousands of athletes will travel to Orlando, Florida, to compete at ESPN Wide World of Sports from January 30 to February 1, all chasing the ultimate prize: a white national champion jacket. As the nation’s top teams take the floor, here are some key storylines to watch throughout the weekend:

DII NHSCC Must Watch List:

Large Varsity Coed:

Large Varsity Coed is known for its elite skills and inventive transitions that keep fans on the edge of their seats. Here are last year’s top three teams:

Brother Martin High School:

The reigning DII Large Coed Champions return after making history with a never-before-seen pyramid skill. Known for their creativity and clean execution, this is a team that should be on your must-watch list. 

Graves County High School:

Your DII Large Varsity Coed runner-up and nine-time UCA National Champions—experience is on full display.

Highlands Ranch High School:

Fresh off a state runner-up finish in Colorado and a bronze medal last year, this team enters the season with momentum. 

Super Varsity:

Featuring 24–30 athletes on the mat, this team can truly stand out by pairing innovative creativity with flawless execution. Let's take a look at the top three finishers from last year: 

Athens High School: 

Back-to-back-to-back champions! These ladies know how to command the floor and deliver when it matters most—and they’re back with their sights set on a historic fourth straight title.

St Thomas More Catholic High School:

Right on their heels, these athletes have already claimed a first-place finish in this division earlier this season and are now chasing their first national title.

Bowling Green High School:

These ladies are riding the momentum of a fifth consecutive state title and two zero-deduction routines at last year’s championship—proving the close race in this division.
