Stingray Siblings Share Their Love For Cheerleading

Can you imagine having an older sibling that you’ve looked up to your entire life and also call them coach? Madison Coleman has been lucky enough to call Brett Lane her big bro and her cheerleading coach for the last 9 years!

Brett is the director of the Stingray Allstars Johns Creek location and he’s been with the program for 10 years. Brett grew up as a gymnast with no cheerleading experience and started coaching his other sister’s sideline team which eventually led him to coach at the competitive level where he grew to love the opportunity for creativity within the sport.

Madison grew up in a family of cheerleaders. She went to her first cheerleading competition to watch her sister compete when she was only 3 weeks old! Madison told us about her cheer-childhood:

I feel like I grew up in the cheer gym, watching my older sister cheer and watching Brett coach.

Brett shared his favorite memory while coaching his little sister:

During the first year that I coached her, she would always look for me out in the audience.  I had to stand in the same spot all year for her to see me in her last stunt before the pyramid.  Watching her smile and run off the floor with such excitement still makes me smile from the thought of that year.

Brett and Madison are 19 years apart, but the age gap has never effected their close knit relationship in and out of the gym. Madison says that cheerleading has made their bond stronger because it is something that they both love so much.

Having him as my coach has given me a new respect for him and what he does. I love him very much and I am so proud that I get to share this journey with him.
