All cheerleaders, dancers, and mascots that make the Ottawa University Arizona Spirit Program at tryouts are scholarship athletes. Scholarship amounts are based on skill level, work ethic, attitude, and academics.

TRYOUT INFORMATION

CHEER:

Clinic & Tryout Dates: Clinics in the spring. Tryouts are in May each year.

Tryout Requirements:

  • Tumbling: Standing tuck, jumps to tuck or handspring multiples, round off handspring tuck
  • Stunting: 
    • Flyers- heel stretch full down / double down, partner stunting experience
    • Bases/ Backspots- full ups or 1.5 / double ups
    • Males- partner stunting experience

DANCE:

Clinic & Tryout Dates: Clinics in the spring. Tryouts are in May each year.

Tryout Requirements:

  • Triple and Quad pirouettes on right, double pirouette on left
  • Changing spot second turns
  • Spinning disc, single stag
  • Right front leap and right side leap
  • Switch arabesque and switch tilt
  • headspring, kip up, firebird, strong kicks, double toe touch
  • leg extensions and splits
