Mesquite Prepares To Swarm The Competition At NCA High School Nationals

It’s that time of year again, and teams from all over are ready to travel to Dallas, Texas, for the NCA Senior and Junior High School National Championship!

The competition is quickly approaching as Mesquite High School out of Mesquite, Texas, prepares to swarm the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center January 27-28.

MHS Titles at NCA High School Nationals

2017: Small High School Gameday National Champions

2016: Small High School Timeout Dance 1st Place

2015: Small High School Timeout Dance 1st Place

2014: Overall 2nd Place

The Mosquitoes will take the floor in the Gameday division this season with a new varsity head coach!

“This year our team went through a transition," Mesquite coach Stanecia Roy said. "The previous JV coach is now head varsity coach and it was almost a whole new squad. The team grew a lot over the year and we both, the coaches and team, are very proud of ourselves along with the support of the school and the previous head coach, who created the first competition squad here at MHS.”

Coach Roy says the team's style and strengths this year are projection, sharpness, and their ability to entertain. The team was named national champions 2017 and they’re looking to do it all over again this weekend.

“The squad's favorite section to perform is the breakdown starting at the jumps during the Timeout Dance!”

Mesquite can't wait to show off their Timeout Dance to one of their favorite songs. To make their routine even better, it was choreographed by a MHS alumni cheerleader!
