#GoBeGreat – NDA Capitol City Classic

Small acts, multiplied by many, can change the world.

At certain NDA competitions, we have a tradition of presenting the Go Be Great Award to a coach, team, or program that has gone above and beyond to make the world a better place outside the world of dance.

We would like to recognize a program for their year-round involvement in community service. Yorktown Dance participated in a 5K and held a youth dance clinic where both events were held to raise funds and awareness for Crohn’s disease.

These dancers also took time out of practice in December to make holiday cards for the women and children being held in detention centers at the borders.

Additionally, they have partnered with Borromeo Housing Inc., and Education First shelter for teen mothers and their children. Throughout the year, they volunteer at the shelter: cleaning, painting, yard work and spending time with the families. The peer to peer connection and visibility into how other teens in the same community live vastly different lives is eye opening and moving for these athletes!

Thank you for all that you do to make a difference in your community, and inspiring others to #GoBeGreat!
