District Champs Look To Earn 2nd State Title!

It’s all about the climb.

The Springfield Cougars are making strides to stay on top! With NHSCC less than a month away, the Cougs are working hard to bring home another white jacket! Now that the team is hitting the choreographed skills, their practices consist of running full outs and cleaning up the small detailed elements that will help them gain extra points on the scoresheet.

Springfield will compete at the Pennsylvania Competitive Spirit Championship this weekend with hopes of bringing home a back-to-back state title! After states, they will compete at two local competitions before heading to nationals. Head coach, Kristin La Barca told us more about the team’s strategy.

We planned on competing as many times as possible before nationals because it prepares the team and helps get their jitters out. Since we still have three weeks to prepare, we are hoping every time we hit the floor it gets better.

After winning a district title and the UCA Northeast Garden State Open, Springfield is feeling confident. Every struggle that they’ve encountered throughout the season has only made the team stronger. They are working hard every day to get down to Orlando and walk off the mat with a HIT!
