The Faces Behind NDA

The Faces Behind NDA

Here at NDA, we are a group of people who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of the next generation. From our instructional staff to our corporate employees, our purpose is to make a positive impact on cheerleaders across the nation by building them to become stronger leaders, athletes and people. Many of us were once in your shoes, as a coach or a camper at NDA Summer Camp.

Team NDA

Team NDA serves as an extension of NDA Corporate. These individuals are seasoned veterans in the dance industry and have been a part of the NDA family for many years. You may see a member of Team NDA visiting your camp, where they check in with coaches and are available to answer any questions you may have.

Jessica Asher

From Westminster, CO

Dance Experience - Jessica has danced the majority of her life and says that has contributed to many successes and incredible experiences in her life. She started dancing young and began competing as a teenager. She went onto dance for the University of Northern Colorado for four years while receiving her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. In addition, she was also able to coach the Northern Colorado Sugar Bears dance team for two years. Many of her proudest achievements as a dancer and teacher have been as an Instructor and Head Instructor for the National Dance Alliance (NDA) for the last 15 years. Through NDA she judges many competitions around the state and nation and has been blessed to choreograph and work with different high school dance teams over the years. Finally, she danced with the professional and non-profit dance company, Dream Project, for six years and currently serves on the Board of Directors as well as choreographs for the company. All of which has inspired her year after year as a dancer and woman. She is honored to be a part of the dance world and looks forward to inspiring the dancer in you.

Why do you love working for NDA?
``NDA means more to me than I could have ever imagined it would have, back when I was 18 years old and received the letter that offered me this incredible, 15 year-long journey. I have always been the type of person that life without dance is a non-negotiable. I cannot even comprehend a day that doesn’t involve some type of dance. In 15 years that perception has adapted but NDA has allowed dance to be a constant in my life. In addition, some of the most important people to me, are my friends that I would have never met if it were not for NDA. The combination of these important people and dance, all together, is some type of indescribable bliss to me. It fills my soul. As I have grown with the company I have worried in the past that I was too old to relate to the young, new staff who came every year. As I persisted and refused to accept that I was ‘too old’ to keep doing this I developed and found a new ‘WHY’ for my continued work with NDA. I believe strongly that I was given the gift of encouragement from God and it is definitely an amazing experience to encourage our phenomenal staff. I know life in your 20’s can be tough as you transition into full adulthood and I am so blessed to be able to work with so many people, listen to their stories and feel that I can encourage their God-given greatness. NDA is no longer just a dance and friend outlet for me, it is an opportunity to give back and build up the incredible talent of this company and dance world, while continuing to gain life-long relationships!``

What do you love to do in your free time?
``In my free time, besides practicing my pirouettes in my kitchen, I love to be with my family. My husband, Mike, and I both work full time but when we are not working we find every chance to be with our son, Scott-Bradley, and daughter, Pearl. We love watching Bronco games together, creating new family traditions, having dance parties, playing out-side and watching movies. We are always up for whatever as long as we are together.``

Dance Experience - I grew up in a nationally competitive studio from age 2-18. Through this studio I had many awesome performance and competition opportunities including Bowl games, Disney appearances and master class experiences at competitions like Spotlight and Showstoppers. In high school I was on the high school dance team for all 4 years and was a captain for 3 of them taking home 2 state titles during that time. I also competing on the cheer team as well. After my initially training years, I went on to play college softball so my extension of dance for a few years was teaching at the studio level and choreographing state and national dance and cheer routines. I moved into co-coaching a high school team and co-directing at a studio. These were during my first years of NDA and my dance world has just exploded since joining. I’ve been an instructor for 16 years and a head instructor for 13 of those and the opportunities I have accrued in that time have been insurmountable. I’ve traveled to London, worked world-wide events and have had multiple judging opportunities. Dance has remained apart of my life through NDA despite all of life’s changes and I could not be more grateful about it!

Why do you love working for NDA?
``This is such a loaded question and is continually being added to but here are a few reasons I love this company. I love having the opportunity to be a positive influence in the rising generation and their coaches/leaders. I really love being able to teach and connect life lessons through a passion and hobby like dance. Real magic comes from that kind of equation. I also love this company because it allows me to be surrounded by some of the best people in the world. Optimistic, strong, inspiring and vivacious people that encourage me to continue shaping myself to be the best person I can be in life.``

What do you love to do in your free time?
``I adore raising my 3 kiddos and all that that entails. I’m also an avid reader, I love hiking and group fitness and traveling the world with my husband is my favorite past time. There’s something so invigorating about being lost in a new city with your best friend.``

Dance Experience - Started dancing when I was 5 and knew I by the time I was 8 I knew I wanted to dance competitively. It ended up taking me to college where I received a scholarship to be on the dance team. And because of that dance team I attended my first NDA camp where I was asked to apply for staff. My future was forever changed from that experience.

Why do you love working for NDA?
``My Why is the friendships made on staff. These individuals have become my closest friends even though we all live across the nation. NDA has taught me so many life lessons and helped me grow into the woman I am today.``

What do you love to do in your free time?
``I love being with my family outdoors. I’ve been married for 5 years, have two little girls, and a dog. We love to go for hikes, mountain bike, ski, camp, and travel when we can.``
