Cheer and dance camps are an experience of a lifetime that every cheerleading team deserves to have! Learning new cheers and dances, improving stunts, winning awards, bonding with your team, meeting new teams, and getting to know the staff are just a few reasons summer camp is so unforgettable. After all, these are the reasons cheerleaders and dancers all over the country attend summer camp!
We asked several cheerleaders across the nation what their greatest camp memories have been over the years. From hanging out with their team to winning awards, cheerleaders have many different reasons for loving the experience of camp.
It’s difficult to describe the camp experience – you just have to experience it! If your team has never been to camp, make it your goal next year to take your team to camp. It’s important that your team makes the same memories that these cheerleaders have made!
“My favorite was the bonding back at the cabin between all of the girls. We put on some music and everyone sang Miley Cyrus "The Climb" together - now I think of camp every time I hear that song!”
- Christine Hughes Stoerrle

“Winning the banana... My team always wanted to have it for a day and we did because we finally got most spirited! It was awesome!”
- Samantha Misner
“My first cheer camp was last year, and I didn’t know any of the girls. We learned some cool cheers and stunts. My favorite stunt was the basket toss and still is my favorite. We all became great friends!”
- Felicia Stanhope
“Trying out for All-American cheerleader... Shiloh was so nice while we were trying out, and I am now an All-American cheerleader of my High School Squad!!”
- Julie Bowen
“Winning the Overall Camp Champs Spirit Banana three years in a row - even when we were the smallest squad at the camp every year... It shows that there is power in small numbers!!!”
- Annalisse Fontana

“My favorite memory of camp is every day after lunch we would get a severe case of the giggles and couldn't practice anything we had learned. Plus to this day, the smell of aerosol hairspray immediately takes me back to the halls of the dorms on camp mornings.”
– Sarah Russell Stover
“My favorite camp memory was actually from this year - last week to be exact. At the USA camp that our squad went to, my friend fell in love with one of the staff members, and every time that he went up to do something our whole squad would start screaming for him. He seriously became the mascot of the trip! Everything we did, he was somehow involved. It was so much fun!
